Health Tips for People Over 50

In the mix tape of life, your health should be a song you never forget. This video is dedicated to all the 50-somethings scrolling social media or YouTube right now. Pause here for some tips to start feeling like a rockstar again!

Medically reviewed by Mohit Negi, MD, medical director of senior care at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

If cassette tapes were your jam, listen up! Chances are you’re in your 50’s. And now it is an important time to hit pause and check your health.

First, have a primary care provider you trust help lead the way.

Then, time for a check of your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. High numbers could mean trouble.

Screenings for cancers, like colonoscopies, mammograms, prostate and Pap tests, can be life-saving. Visit a dermatologist for a skin and mole check as well.

Is your eyesight changing? It’s time to see an optometrist.

To prevent or protect against serious illness from shingles, hepatitis, tetanus, flu and COVID, make sure you are up to date with vaccines.

We can’t rewind the aging process, but we can take steps so we continue to feel like rockstars.
